US/Canada DRE Data There are approximately 6,000 DRE’s across the US and nearly 700 in Canada Approximately 44% of all US DRE’s are located in AAMVA Region IV The most prevalent drug encountered by US DRE’s in this region is cannabis In 2010, Colorado experienced a 53% increase over 2009 where cannabis was detected in toxicology results

US/Canada DRE Data In 2010, CNS Depressants (Xanax, Valium, Ambien, etc.) were the second-most detected drug category in the region In 2010, Washington State held a nation- leading 27 ARIDE classes Both US and Canadian DRE’s are seeing increases in medical marijuana cases.

National sobriety testing resource center- dre data tracking site Data entry is voluntary Most AAMVA Region IV States are entering data Site tracks evaluations, toxicology results, and trend information

Enhancements to data collection DRE Data tracking will soon include the option of identifying cases related to medical marijuana Data will be captured under Cannabis Prior cases involving medical marijuana will be able to be updated to enhance data capture

Access to DRE Web Site www.Sobrietytesting.org National Sobriety Testing Resource Center, houses the DRE database Limited Access to Law Enforcement Personnel DRE section of the database is password protected, contact the respective state DRE coordinator for further access
