9 top tips for finding a work placement Think carefully about the business area you want to explore – don’t rush the process Ask friends and family if they have contacts you could approach for work experience If you can’t get your ‘dream’ placement, think about alternatives Research the business BEFORE you call them - this shows you know what the business does and why you are interested in their company Phone rather than email (no blanket emails please). Sound enthusiastic and mention that you are a sixth form student Think about what is going to make YOU stand out when you make contact with a business No placements abroad, or working in parent’s home are permitted. Act quickly to ensure that you don’t miss out. Work experience works - don’t waste the opportunity
