4. How can people slow the rate of Global Warming? ● Save energy in your house and office ● Use less gasoline and carpool or walk or ride bikes ● Don't waste things and recycle ● Plant a tree or something in that sense ● Talk to people about global warming and raise awareness

5. An Effect of Global Warming Pine Beetle Infestation ● Pine beetles destroy millions of acres of forest land every year because of the rising temperatures. Living trees act as very important “carbon sinks”; as they rot, the carbon is released back into the air and creates more global warming. ● Through management of pine beetles, this effect of global warming can be reduced.

6. Pine Beetle Infestation Call of Action ● Pheromone traps can be used to predict the spread and quantity of pine beetle outbreak in specific regions. ● When big outbreaks are prognosed, forest managers have different tools to contain the bark beetle infestations including cutting the infested trees and burning them, spraying chemicals, and cutting uninfested “buffer” trees around the infested trees to stop the spread of pine beetles. When that is done, they must plant new trees to sequester the carbon which is released out of the dead trees into the newly planted trees.
