4. Red blood cells, also known as erythrocytes are the components of the blood that are responsible for delivering oxygen throughout the body. The normal count as per Haematology RBC standards for a healthy adult is between 3.6 - 6.1 million red blood cells in a single cubic millimetre of blood. Abnormalities in RBC counts could indicate various diseases related to heart, kidney or lung. A Low blood count is also associated with a condition called Anaemia.
