RTI (Response to Intervention) o All children were given various universal screenings and placed in small groups o RTI provides structured small group instruction for additional practice with reading fluency and decoding skills and/or math skills; based on various data collected by the reading specialist with teacher input.

Grading Policy o Reading o 33% Unit Tests o 67% Classwork o Math: o 50% Test Grades o 50% Classwork

o Grammar: o 50% Classwork o 50% Test o Science / Social Studies: o 50% Test o 50% Classwork o Writing: o Rubric scores for each of the pieces. Scores only given for those skills assessed for that particular marking period.

Read Aloud/ SSR/AR o Encourage your child to read for 30 minutes each day. o Goal= 85% accuracy o Reading a variety of genres o Quiz at least 2 times each week

Accelerated Math o Self-paced program o Assignments need to be scanned each week. o AM can be used at home.

Homework o Assignments are given Monday- Thursday o Due the following day o If not complete, students will complete during recess o Homework should take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete (Let teachers know if it is taking longer) o Principal’s homework- Read AR book for 30 minutes EVERY night o Weekly Newsletters: homework, upcoming events, vocabulary and spelling words. o Monthly Calendar: upcoming events (schoolwide and classroom) and assignments, including test dates.
