2. Summary: chapter 2 1.David washed himself and his clothes with his soap. 2.David found a safe hiding place in a cave. 3.He found an orange which he discovered was good to eat. 4.David realised that one of his biggest assets was his ability to speak several languages.

3. 5.David realised that he had to have a “story” to tell people about where he came from and where he was going. 6.David went into the little town and was touched by all the laughter, beauty of the women and plentiful supply of food. 7.David found a paper which he could use to try and read.

4. 8.He found a church which was very beautiful to him. 9.A friendly man offered David a loaf of bread. 10.David returned to the town several evenings. 11.He made up a story of wanting to rejoin a circus. 12.David realised that towns-folk were discussing him.

5. 13.He realised that it was time to move on, but he was sad to do so.
