HANDLING CONFLICTS Promoting team strength

what is a conflict? mental struggle resulting from incompatible or opposing needs, drives, wishes, or external or internal demandsincompatible -Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary

So according to the definition, conflict comes from incompatibleincompatible or opposing DESIRES NEEDS DRIVES DEMANDS

DESIRE a longing or craving, as for something that brings satisfaction or enjoyment All desires are not bad ones but when they become so strong that they make us unwilling to be loving AND CONSCIENCE OF OTHERS then they cause-CONFLICTS 1 He who separates himself seeks his own desire, He quarrels against all sound wisdom. Proverbs 18:1 CONFLICT-mental struggle resulting from incompatible or opposing needs, drives, wishes, or external or internal demandsincompatible

NEEDS a requirement, necessary duty, or obligation. A lack of something wanted or deemed necessary. Everyone has basic needs that are common to life. However If you believe that your needs are more important or greater than another, then there will be CONFLICT CONFLICT-mental struggle resulting from incompatible or opposing needs, drives, wishes, or external or internal demandsincompatible

30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! 31 Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ 32 For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. Matthew 6:30-32

DRIVES to press or force into an activity, course, or direction, to dash, plunge, or surge ahead rapidly or violently We are all driven to do things that are particular to us, it is what makes us unique at times. However when our drives do not coincide with the WILL of the Father their will be CONFLICT Proverbs 16:25There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. CONFLICT-mental struggle resulting from incompatible or opposing needs, drives, wishes, or external or internal demandsincompatible

DEMANDS an act of demanding or asking especially with authority, something claimed as duedemanding CONFLICT-mental struggle resulting from incompatible or opposing needs, drives, wishes, or external or internal demandsincompatible We all have a tendency to be assertive based on a goal or objective, but when that assertiveness moves us into an attitude of ungratefulness and selfishness then we forget what Christ’s mission truly was: 44”and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45-46

So to summarize ✓ Conflicts come from an inner selfishness that pivots on the individual. ✓ Conflicts are a result of us not walking in love ✓ Conflicts are killers of unity, confidence and peace ✓ We must avoid these kind of conflicts at all cost NOTE: The difference between a problem and a conflict is, a problem is about a dilemma, a conflict is about a person(s)
