Olweus Bullying Prevention Program In 2009, 38% of junior & senior high students reported being harassed or bullied in school (Youth Risk Behavior Survey) Currently running the program in 7 elementary schools and one junior high school (Conestoga, Prairie Wind, Rawhide, Sunflower, Meadowlark, Cottonwood, Sunflower, Sage Valley)

Student Resource Officers The Gillette Police Department has a total of 4 School Resource Officers In 2009-2010 the SROs answered 868 calls for service The Safe Schools / Healthy Students grant provides 1 SRO for the junior high schools Due to the success of having an SRO dedicated to the junior high level, the City of Gillette added another SRO position for that level

10. Diversion & Early Age Intervention Provides an alternative to criminal prosecution Instructs participants in Corrective Thinking classes to change problematic thinking patterns Last year there were 82 students served through Diversion (ages 13-18) and 26 through Early Age Intervention (ages 5-12)

Social Norms Marketing Marketing campaign to reduce underage drinking Uses positive messages that capture the spirit of the student body In 2009-2010, campaign was implemented at Campbell County High School Expanding to the junior highs in 2010-2011 Campaign elements: Texting to students, mobile billboard, posters Campaign targeting parents: newspaper, radio, direct mail
