Prewriting Who is my audience? What is my purpose? What do I want to say? How do I want to say it? What graphic organizer will I use? Brainstorm, create a web, Venn Diagram, outline Write everything down & don’t worry about spelling or grammar
8
Drafting Are my thoughts organized? Which ideas do I want to develop? In what order do I want to say my ideas? Did I skip lines? Did I label everything?
9
Revising Are my details clear? Should I add or take out parts? Is my writing in a sensible order? Have I used the best ideas or words?
10
Editing Have I used complete sentences? Are my language conventions correct? Spelling, capitalization, punctuation, grammar Circle or mark errors No contractions! Do not use the first or second person in formal writing (I or you) Be sure subjects & verbs agree & that verb tense stays the same Have I had anyone else edit my paper?
11
Publishing Did I do my best work? Did I include a title? Is my final copy neat?
