Having a plan and being prepared is the most important part of being safe if disaster strikes. It is also important to be informed about all types of disaster especially the ones that you are most at risk for It is important to have a basic supply kit already made in case of disaster

Water: a gallon a day per person Food Wireless radio Flashlight First-aid kit Dust mask Can opener Phone and charger

Board up all windows Stay inside during the storm on the lowest level Take refuge in a small closet Lie on the floor under a table or a sturdy object Do not use elevators

Get to the lowest floor possible Get into a closet or safe room, away from windows or doors Keep windows closed If you are outside when a tornado strikes, get to a low, flat area and lay on the ground.

Get to as high as you can in a building Make sure all utilities and appliances are off or unplugged Do not walk or drive through moving water

Drop to the floor and get under a table or something sturdy Hold on to something sturdy Stay away from windows or shelves that have things that may fall Stay in one place, do not try to move to a different area

Get as far away from the coastline as possible Get as high up as possible Make sure utilities and appliances are off or unplugged

Stay low to the ground to avoid smoke Get to an exit as fast as you can and get outside Call 911 so the fire department can put out the fire If opening a closed door and the door is hot, don’t open the door
