Common Names. In ancient times it was, the “Sacred Disease” People believed that the seizures were caused by demonic spirits.. Just commonly known as Epilepsy.

Causes: There are many causes and can be linked by to many other conditions. Some causes: – Head Injuries – Hereditary Factors

Symptoms Convulsions Muscle Spasms Loss of Consciousness Strange Emotions Strange Behaviors

Area of Nervous System Affected Epilepsy effects many parts of the brain, but it depends an the cause and the type of attack. So basically, it mainly affects the brain.

Who is usually affected by Disease It usually affects really young children or older people. Usually around the age of 65. Affects men slightly more than women.

Prognosis Depending on the patients age and type of epilepsy, it may be possible for that patient to stop taking medication if they have been seizure-free for a certain amount of time. The prognosis is bad for people who take one or more drugs and have brain injuries.

Treatments Believe it or not, an effective treatment for the symptoms of epilepsy are vitamins. Mainly Vitamin D

Extra Info: Epilepsy- The condition of spontaneously recurrent seizures. Some types of epilepsy are inherited. Types of epilepsy most likely to be inherited are the ones where both sides of the brain are attacked at the beginning of seizures.
