DICHOTOMOUS KEY A dichotomous key is a series of descriptions arranged in pairs that leads the user to the identification of an unknown organism.

HOW TO USE A DICHOTOMOUS KEY: 1. Carefully observe the organism you are attempting to identify. 2. Choose one of the traits from the key to divide the organism into one of two groups. 3. Follow the key to select the next trait of the organism until the name is identified.
