1 Begin with Observations: 1. Quantitative - observations that are measurements, involve counting or numeric values. (length, speed) 2. Qualitative - observations that describe physical characteristics (color, texture, shape, odor, size) A set of procedures that scientists use to help organize thinking about questions and solving problems. 3 Scientific Method Vocabulary Hypothesis - An testable statement about a question. Independent Variable - The factor changed by the experimenter (I choose it.) Control - The factor(s) that are kept the same throughout the experiment. (Control group is used for comparison); nothing is done to this group Dependent Variable - The measured results of the experiment (quantitative or qualitative).
