What we do… Campus Group implements powerful grass roots marketing campaigns To credibly engage with students, we recruit local students to become our eyes, ears and hands on campus They use their local knowledge, insight and contacts to ensure the brands translate to the local environments – grass roots campaigning at its finest They have the responsibility to manage both the brand and campaign independently on campus Recruitment No experience is necessary as full training is given, therefore we are looking for all students to apply for a job as a Student Brand Manager Campus Group will brief the Student Brand Manager and when necessary invite them to London for a training day

CIM is the world’s leading professional body of marketing All students participating in a Campus Student Brand Manager programme are eligible for a special career development award on submission of a development portfolio A CIM award is a recognition of achievement in marketing A CIM award will enhance the students CV and gain credibility and have a competitive edge over their peers It’s free to apply and open to all students on Campus Group programmes who have completed 2 or more terms as a Student Brand Manager

Case Study: Jack Daniels Overview: Since 2003 Campus Group has been implementing a comprehensive experiential marketing campaign for Jack Daniel’s that prides itself on what it gives back to the student community SBM Activities : JD Set Unsigned: Organise a student battle of the bands gig at either your Union or local student venue JD Set Unsigned scout: Scout at least 10 student bands and acquire their demos to enter them into the national JD Set Unsigned competition Music Association: Sponsor a headline gig at your Students Union JD Pool: Host a JD pool competition at your students union. This will include booking a venue, managing the running order on the night, sourcing 32 student players, per-promotion of the night Off-Trade: Set up and monitor a JD student promotion in 2 popular off-licenses PR: Form good relations with the editor of your student media, to release a piece of PR each term Research: Conduct market research amongst your fellow students and peers The extensive skills that the SBMs on this program will develop are: Experiential Marketing Event Management Charted Institute of Marketing certificate Leadership Organisational Time Management

Case Study: 3 Overview: As part of the nationwide launch of 3’s Mobile Broadband product, Campus Group were tasked with showing the student audience how it become a essential part of their daily lives. The Free Your Laptop campaign was developed to show how laptops were trapped in captivity in many student homes and how Mobile Broadband could be of benefit to them. SBM Activities: Product Seeding: Use the laptop and dongle on campus to help other students visualise where and when the product can be used Trial and Demo: Encourage fellow students to participate in trial and demo sessions on campus. All those that entered into a competition to win Mobile Broadband Tour Support: Work alongside a professional promotional team to run the Students Against Laptop Captivity protest on campus Core Promotion: Distribution of a varied materials portfolio to communicate key messages on campus The extensive skills that the SBMs on this program will develop are: Experiential Marketing Communication skills Planning skills Charted Institute of Marketing certificate Time Management

Case Study: FCO Overview: SBM programme executed at 18 universities across the UK to raise awareness of www.gogapyear.com and to make the student population aware of the core messages of the national “Know Before You Go” campaignwww.gogapyear.com SBM Activities : It is a very targeted campaign that includes the following elements: PR Retail outlet liaison Gap/Careers exhibitions Promotional distribution Market research Online social networking The training day takes place in the Foreign Office in Westminster The extensive skills that the SBMs on this program will develop are: Communication Chartered Institute of Marketing Negotiation

Case Study: 3 Mobile Campus recruited 60 SBMs at 30 universities across the UK to raise awareness of the current student offering by 3 SBMs carried out distribution of flyers, posters, competition entry forms and door hangers across the key areas identified on campus SBMs liaised with the local 3 stores to organise a student event and competition to raise the profile of the store amongst students and drive sales SBMs were equipped with voucher booklets and a demonstration phone to encourage sales and sign ups to the 3 network Campus Group has worked with 3 since 2004 delivering a variety of SBM, Road Show and integrated campaigns with the most recent push focusing on Mobile Broadband, an integrated campaign at 18 universities

Case Study: Kent County Council Overview: We have worked with Kent County Council for 3 years and we carry out very targeted promotions on behalf of Kent County Council in order to reach teaching students and educate them about the teaching opportunities that are available within Kent SBM Activities : Promotional Distribution: Distribute postcards and posters to teaching students through out the academic year to ensure all the target students are aware of the opportunities available to them Lecture Hits: Arrange with the lecturer to give a short announcement about Kent County Council at the beginning of target lectures Verbal Communication: Interact and talk to students about the promotion The extensive skills that the SBMs on this program will develop are: Presentation Skills Organisational Verbal communication Working independently and proactively

Case Study: Department of Communities & Local Government Overview: Campus Group carried out a campaign for the DCLG to promote the new Government rent deposit protection scheme to students. We informed students at 30 UK Universities of their new rights as tenants SBM Activities : Promotional Distribution: Distribute posters, leaflets, door hangers and pencil pots around Campus to inform students of the Tenancy Scheme PR: Form good relations with the editor of your student media to secure a piece of PR for the campaign Partnership with welfare staff: Inform key welfare staff (e.g. accommodation/housing officers; welfare officers) on campus of the campaign and visit their offices with promotional material The extensive skills that the SBMs on this program will develop are: Organisational skills Verbal communication with peers and university staff Time management PR Experience Experience of working on a Government marketing campaign
