1 Smartphone sensors Gyroscope: The gyroscope is a sensor that can provide orientation information with great precision. Magnetometer: It is able to detect magnetic fields. The magnetometer is one of the sensors that compass applications use to point at the planet's north pole. And detect metal. Proximity: It is comprised of a LED or IR light detector. It is placed near the earpiece of the phone so that it can tell whether or not you are calling someone so that it can turn the screen off to save the battery. The sensor works by shining a beam of invisible to humans infrared light which is reflected from a nearby object and picked up by the IR detector.

2 Ambient light sensors: The light sensors in a phone measures the ambient light in the room. The phone’s software uses this to make the screen brighter in lots of light and lower it when it is dark. This helps save the battery. it can also benefit your eyes because it isn’t really bright in the dark which could damage your eyes. Also you never have to fiddle with it to change it when you can’t see it. Barometer: Barometers can measure atmospheric pressure. Data measured by it is used to determine how high the device is above sea level, which in turn results in improved GPS accuracy. Thermometer: Thermometers are used to tell the ambient temperature in a room. People could use this if they often forget to turn the heating on. They’re are some apps that will beep or sound an alarm if the temperature is to low. This could prevent someone from getting hypothermia in their sleep and would wake them up and prompt them to turn on the heating.

3 Pedometer: Counts the amount of steps that you take. They usually take data from the accelerometer to get results. However, some phones do have real pedometers. Heart rate monitor: Shows the users heart rate. Fingerprint sensors: Fingerprint sensors provide an extra layer of security. Also for old people they wouldn’t have to remember a password for their phone.
