CHINA 1 China is officially known as the People's Republic of China. China has the largest population in the world, with over 1.3 billion people (1,343,239,923) as of July 2012. China is the 3rd largest country by area at 9,706,961 sq. km (3,747,879 sq. miles). China belongs to the continent of Asia. Bordering countries include Afghanistan, Bhutan, Burma, India, Kazakhstan, North Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Vietnam. The summit of Mt Everest marks the border between China and Nepal. There are many different languages spoken in China, including Mandarin, Yue, Wu, Minbei, Minnan, Xiang, Gan and Hakka.

CHINA 2 Other major cities include Chongqing, Shenzhen and Guangzhou. 47% of the population live in urban areas. China experiences typhoons every year and also suffers from floods, tsunamis, earthquakes and droughts. China has the fourth longest river in the world, the Yangtze River, which reaches 5,797km (3,602 miles) in length. It also has the sixth longest, the Yellow River, stretching 4,667km (2,900 miles). China is the second largest economy in the world, after the United States of America. In 2003, China became the third country to successfully send a person to space. The famous Giant Panda is found near the Yangtze River in China. China hosted the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing.

THE GREAT WALL The Great Wall of China is the largest man made structure in the world, stretching an incredible 8,850 kilometres (5,500 miles) The Great Wall of China is a series of fortifications made of stone, brick, tamped earth, wood, and other materials, generally built along an east-to-west line across the historical northern borders of China to protect the Chinese states and empires against the raids and invasions of the various nomadic groups of the Eurasian Steppe. Several walls were being built as early as the 7th century BCE;[2] these, later joined together and made bigger and stronger, are now collectively referred to as the Great Wall.[3] Especially famous is the wall built 220–206 BCE by Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China. Little of that wall remains. Since then, the Great Wall has on and off been rebuilt, maintained, and enhanced; the majority of the existing wall is from the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644).

TRADITIONAL CHINESE MARRIAGE Traditional Chinese marriage is a ceremonial ritual within China societies that involve a marriage established by pre-arrangement between families. Within Chinese culture. romantic love was allowed, and monogamy was the norm for most citizens.

DESTINATION 1 - BEIJING First up is Beijing the capital of china. High-speed rail networks. The Beijing Capital International Airport is the second busiest in the world by passenger traffic. As the last of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China, Beijing has been the political centre has history stretching back 3 millennia. Yet it’s known as much for its modern architecture as its ancient sites such as the grand Forbidden City complex, the imperial palace during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Nearby, the massive Tiananmen Square pedestrian plaza is the site of Mao Zedong’s mausoleum and the National Museum of China, Other major attractions include the Summer Palace, the retreat of emperors with pavilions and gardens along Kunming Lake. Temple of Heaven is a park that's home to the colourful, circular Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests. Beijing Olympic Park, built for the 2008 games, encompasses a long promenade and Beijing National Stadium, dubbed the “Bird’s Nest” for its interlocking steel grids. The Back Lakes district offers narrow old streets lined with boutiques and cafes. The 798 Art District hosts cutting-edge galleries. A popular side trip is an excursion to a nearby section of the Great Wall of China.

DESTINATION 2 – HONG KONG With a total land area of 1,106 square kilometres (427 sq mi) and a population of over 7.3 million of various nationalities, it ranks as the world's fourth most densely populated sovereign state or territory. After the First Opium War (1839–42), Hong Kong became a British colony with the perpetual cession of Hong Kong Island, followed by the Kowloon Peninsula in 1860 and a 99-year lease of the New Territories from 1898. Hong Kong was later occupied by Japan during the Second World War until British control resumed in 1945. In the early 1980s, negotiations between the United Kingdom and China resulted in the 1984 Sino-British Joint Declaration, which paved way for the transfer of sovereignty of Hong Kong in 1997, when it became a special administrative region (SAR) with a high degree of autonomy.

DESTINATON 3 - SHANGHAI Shanghai, on China’s central coast, is the country's biggest city and a global financial hub. Its heart is the Bund, a famed waterfront promenade lined with colonial-era buildings. Across the Huangpu River rises the Pudong district’s futuristic skyline, including 632m Shanghai Tower and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, with distinctive pink spheres. arts. Longhua Temple is a large complex known for its ornate Song dynasty pagoda. The French Concession, home of the city’s French population from 1849 to 1943, offers tree-lined streets, art deco buildings and hip boutiques, cafes and bars. Sprawling Yu Garden has traditional pavilions, towers and ponds.
