Focus The purpose of this study is to use data and observations of preschool children in two different educational models to highlight the importance of a play based child centered curriculum on all areas of the child’s development.

Questions What does the teacher in classroom 2 think the reason is that her children are not progressing in all areas of development? What were the beginning of the year developmental screenings results of each classroom on average ? What were the mid-year and end of the year results of each classroom? How many incidents of misbehavior have been observed? Are the children actively engaged in their learning?

Description of intervention Keep it simple Do a mock teaching module Return classroom number two to play based curriculum Do mid year assessments and look for improvements in classroom 2

Describe The Membership The membership of the action research group will be the teacher from classroom 2 and myself.

Describe Negotiations Meet with our mangers to Ensure that no ones job will be lost as a result of the research That proper support will be given to transition classroom 2 to a play based, child centered curriculum

Timeline The plan will last six weeks Phase 1 Have a meeting and do a Mock Teaching Trial to show my point Phase 2 Collect the beginning of the year data and transition the classroom to a play based child centered curriculum Phase 3 Observe and collect data Phase 4 Review data and come to a determination

Needed resources Both teachers need to have access to the Brigance Scores and CC.net Classroom 2 will need play based materials

Action Plan The action plan answers the big and pressing question The question is Do children learn better and stay engaged more in play based curriculum? The plan is prove that they do by collecting data from two classrooms Interpreting the data Doing a mock classroom module to show the participants how the students feel
