2 Topic homework (half termly)– will generally be sent home at the end of the half term to be completed during the holidays ready for the next term. There will be a list of homework project ideas to suit all different learning styles. You only need to do one! Reading (weekly)– your child will come home with a reading book each week. The benefits of reading at home as well as in school are invaluable for child’s development. Spellings (weekly)– your child will receive 15 words a week to be learnt. 10 of these are taken from our spelling programme within school and will have a specific spelling pattern focus. The remaining 5 will come from the Year 3 and 4 high frequency word list which can also be found on our website. Maths Homework (weekly)- this generally takes the form of a worksheet based on what the children have been learning that week in maths. Although we encourage parents to work with the children on homework, the children should complete the work by themselves as this is more informative for us to track their understanding of the work. If you have any queries/questions regarding the homework set always feel free to come and speak to us or jot a note on the back of the homework sheet to be handed in. We will always respond to your comments. Medicines Teachers are unable to administer any medicine in the classroom. All medicines must be taken to the front office. Glasses can be left in the classroom store cupboard if you wish, however please make sure these are clearly labelled. Asthma pumps will also be stored in the store cupboard, please ensure these are clearly labelled. Clothing Please ensure that all clothing and shoes are clearly labelled. There is more chance an item of clothing can be returned to the rightful owner if names are clearly visible. PE PE sessions will be taking place on a Tuesday and a Thursday. Please note, PE kit is expected for every lesson as follows; your Lacewood team coloured t-shirt and black bottoms. Water bottles There is an area in the classroom for children to bring a water bottle. These water bottles are to be taken home at the end of every day. Please note these bottles must only contain water. Book Bags Please ensure your child’s book bag is at school every day. All letters to go home, homework and reading books are sent home in their book bag where it is less likely that important items will get lost.
