1 Working in Partnership Homework at Hady. What do we mean by homework? Who gets homework? Homework can take many forms and the purpose varies at different stages of a child’s development. In the case of younger children, the main purpose is to involve parents in their child’s learning. As a child gets older, homework provides an opportunity for children to develop the skills of independent learning.

3 Working in Partnership Homework at Hady. How can I support my child? Be positive about homework and explain how important it is – the attitude you express will influence the attitude your child will have. The best time to complete homework is soon after children arrive home. A short break and snack is recommended first. Ensure children have a quiet space where they can work. When children ask for help give guidance where you can, but try not to give answers, allowing children to try to develop their own learning. Your children will need varying degrees of support but if they don’t really understand it is very useful to mark answers with ? - to show the class teacher their gaps in knowledge or understanding.
