5 Practices Venn Diagram Activity

6 At Your Tables Open up the small plastic bag of statements. Place them where you think they belong on the Venn Diagram. Some are from CC-ELA, Some are from CC-Math and NGSS. If you think they are common to 2 or more place them in the overlapping areas.

7 At Your Tables Compare your groups with a Neighbors. What similarities or differences do you notice? Have a discussion: How can this activity be used with your staff as a bridge between CCSS and NGSS?

16 3D Lesson Activity Think of a Lesson that would target the selected practice tied to the specific content that uses the selected cross cutting concept. Put the practice back into the envelope after selecting a new one. Replace it and discuss how that change would effect the lesson.

21 Mapping Current Standards vs. NGSS  What differences are there between 98 standards and NGSS?  How do the NGSS standards compare?  Cut out the 98 CA State Standards for your grade level.  Cut out the NGSS Performance Expectations at your grade level.  Paste them on poster paper in a T chart.  Compare not Align: What do you notice?
