Atmosphere and Surface of Venus From earth it sometimes looks like a bright star. Because of the atmosphere of Venus we are unable to see the surface from earth. There are over 1600 major volcanoes, mountains, large highland terrains, and vast lava plains. Temperatures reach to 900 degrees Fahrenheit. Distance from earth 25 million miles. Venus in Real Color. Venus’s atmosphere is made up of 96.5%Carbon Dioxide,3.5% Nitrogen, and less than 1%Sulfur Dioxide,Argon, water vapor,Carbon Monoxide,Helium, and Neon.

Interior and Surface of Venus Venus Crust is estimated to be 500 million years old. A process known as subduction is absent in small scale forms that happen all the time, on Venus instead it occurs in an enormous scale every once in awhile long time, the exact time is unknown but it is know that it hasn’t happened for the past 500 million years. Venus does not have tectonic plates causing slow subduction. It can get as cold as 220 degrees Celsius on Venus.
