Coming into school The children line up in the main playground ready to be collected by the class teacher. The bell rings at 8.55am. If you arrive after the line has gone in you will need to take your child to the office to be signed in. Teachers are available in the playground from 8.45 if you need to speak to us or arrange an appointment. Children need their book bags in school everyday. The children in Year 2 are responsible for putting their own things away in the morning (lunchbox, book bags etc). J

Reading Your child will be read with twice a week with either their teacher or TA as a part of guided reading. Guided reading records are kept in a separate reading folder which remains in school. Reading books are changed every Monday and Thursday. If you have read with you child at home please record it in their yellow reading diary to ensure that their book is changed. Books and reading diaries must be in your child's book bag everyday. Don’t worry if your child occasionally gets the same book that they’ve had in Year 1. This is to reinforce their reading skills. A

Home Learning Home learning comes home near the beginning of each new half term. There is a variety of activities that the children can choose from (1-2 tasks per week) which covers a range of learning. It may be that the task doesn’t require your child to record anything that week so don’t worry if there isn’t anything in their book. We will collect home learning books in on the last Monday of each half term so that the children can share their favourite piece. Book can stay at home until then. Please refer to the new policy on the website. G

Lunchtimes We are a healthy and nut free school. Please take this in to consideration when making your child’s pack lunch. Water Children need to bring a water bottle with fresh water into school everyday. We have water fountains around the school for the children to use. A

Building Learning Power We are a BLP school from Nursery through to Year 6. BLP is a long-term project which aims to encourage children’s attitudes for life- long learning. These attitudes are becoming embedded within the whole ethos of the school, equipping the children with strategies to cope with the challenges of life and learning (for example, resilience, working in a team, perseverance etc).
