5 International Exchange Center, Kunsan NU5/31 1.2Change of Alien Registration - Change of Address (CIELE can do it instead of you) [Application, Passport, AR Card, Copy of Rent Contract] - Change of University (Do it by yourself) [Application, Passport, AR Card, Admission Certificate, Enrollment Certificate, Register-Removal Certificate]

6 International Exchange Center, Kunsan NU6/31 1.3Extension of Sojourn (1) O Within Studying Period - Application form, passport, AR card - Copies of bank book for recent 6 months (average deposit over 1 mil. Won) - Receipt of tuition payment - Enrollment Certificate, transcript - Handling fee: W30,000 *CIELE submits the applications in a lump. *In principle, visa extension for undergraduates over the regular period (4 semesters) can be only by 6 months and up to 2 times.

Won) - Recommendation letter by professor (Title of thesis, agenda of submissions and inspections in detail) - Completion Certificate, transcript - Handling fee: W30,000 *The applicant should do it her-/himself

Won) - Recommendation letter by professor (Agenda of job searching in detail) - Graduation Certificate, transcript - Handling fee: W30,000 *Only for the BAs in Science/eng majors & MA/Ph.Ds in liberal/science/eng majors *The applicant should do it by her-/himself

9 International Exchange Center, Kunsan NU9/31 1.4Permit for Particular Activities (1) - After 1 semester with D-2 visa - 20 hrs (undergraduate)/ 30 hrs (Graduates) during semesters, no limit during vacation - Max. 2 working places are allowed (Except for high tech labs and companies, alcohol bars, prostitution, private lesson etc.) - 1 year permit and extensible [Application, Part-time Work Application, passport, AR card, recommendation letter, employment contract] *Please do it yourself but PT Work application needs to be signed by CIELE

10 International Exchange Center, Kunsan NU10/31 1.4Permit for Particular Activities (2) - For part-time work at university like teaching or research assistant, no permission procedure is needed - Employment contract should include : working period and place, type of business, description of job, business license no. - E-2 visa qualification is given only to the graduate with MA/Ph.D. or waiting the final recognition to his/her dissertation (=> You can work at private academy with D-2 visa) [Application, passport, AR card, employment contract, business license certificate, business license for schooling, diploma, transcript] * In case of change of employer, new application is needed * Please do it yourself

13 International Exchange Center, Kunsan NU13/31 1.5Extension of Visa D-2 → E-1(Prof), E-3(Researcher), E-7(Etc) Only possible in the following person: - who have completed the science/engineering BA degree course but with recommendation form the univ. president - who have completed the liberal arts MA/Ph.D. degree course but with the recommendation form the univ. president * But E-3 is applicable only by science & engineering majors [application, passport, AR card, graduation certificate, recommendation from president or dean, employment contract, business license certificate, 50,000 won and other docs] *Please do it yourself

14 International Exchange Center, Kunsan NU14/31 1.6Re-Entry to Korea - In case of leaving Korea temporarily to visit home country or participate in conference within the existing visa period - Multiple for 1 year from 2010 - In case of no return after the promised date of return to Korea  application for visa is needed again - In case you need more period  application is possible at the Korean consulate abroad within 15 days limit

16 International Exchange Center, Kunsan NU16/31 1.8Return to Home - In case of temporary absence, dismissal or voluntary withdrawal, you must report it to CIELE and return to homeland with 30 days. - Before leaving Korea, the notice of your leaving date to the CIELE is needed (Then, CIELE reports your return to home to the Korean Immigration Office and you’ll be given 30 days for preparing for your return trip) - Return of the Alien Registration Card at the airport or ship port when leaving Korea (In case of failure, your entry to Korea can be rejected in the future)

18 International Exchange Center, Kunsan NU18/31 2.1Scholarship (1) - Scholarship is given according to the academic marks (GPA in the previous semster) from Fall Semester 2008 O Types of Scholarships for Undergraduate: Grade, Contribution, TOPIK(L4) & Exchange Student The Scholarship won’t given when you - Violate of immigration regulations - do not buy the insurance - get the grade under GPA 2.5 - register the Korean language course (only for the freshman withou TOPIK L3)

19 International Exchange Center, Kunsan NU19/31 2.1Scholarship (2) O Types of Scholarships for Graduate: Graduate Preference, Doctoral, TOPIK(L4), General The Scholarship won’t given when you - Violate of immigration regulations - do not buy the insurance - get the grade under GPA 3.5 (GPA 3.50~3.99 => 50% given) *You cannot two scholarships in a lump.

20 International Exchange Center, Kunsan NU20/31 2.2Insuraces - Insurance is the requirement to all foreign students from Fall Semester 2008 (No insurance, no scholarship) - Two types of insurances (1) Nat’l Health Insurance (Public) About 40,000 won monthly, about over 50% reduction of medical fee (2) Foreign Student Insurance (Private) About 200,000 won per year, no reduction of medical fee, but the full refund of it after medical treatment is possible

21 International Exchange Center, Kunsan NU21/31 2.3Student Dormitory - Newcomers recommended by the sister universities abroad should live in the student dormitory during first semester - Dormitory student should obey the rules for living (ex. Rules to smoking, midnight coming to dormitory) - CIELE does not apply for a place in the dormitory for the currently enrolled students - The enrolled student should confirm the period for application to the dormitory by himself

22 International Exchange Center, Kunsan NU22/31 2.4Korean Language Course - Newcomers for undergraduate courses should take the Korean Lang. Test and the limit of the applicable credits are imposed on. (ex: 6, 12, 15 credits) - Students with low marks  Korean Lang. Course at CIELE (The CIELE will decide it) - For graduate student, in case of taking the 15- week (2-sem.) Korean Lang. course at CIELE, the foreign language test at Graduate School is exempted. (Plz refer to the Degree Awarding Regulation of Graduate School)

23 International Exchange Center, Kunsan NU23/31 2.5Classes/Credits - Application for classes : 18~14 credits (Only for GPA 4.2 and more, 24 credits-application is allowed) - Please visit Kunsan NU Total Information System (kis.kunsan.ac.kr) and apply for the classes and print the notice for tuition payment every semester - Absence over ¾ of the required attending hours  No credit  ‘F’ - Credits : A+/A, B+/B, C+/C, D=/D, F (=under 59 marks)

24 International Exchange Center, Kunsan NU24/31 2.6Change of Major/Dual Major & Vacation Sessions - Change of Major : At the beginning of 2 nd or 3 rd academic year (Only one time and the GPA should be over 2.75) - Dual Majors : 1 st and 2 nd majors, 42 and 42 credits for major subjects (Total 84 credits are needed for graduation), one or two more semesters are added - Vacation sessions for Summer & Winter vacations (Payment of tuitions is required)

27 International Exchange Center, Kunsan NU27/31 3.2Notices for Foreign Students (1) - Changed address, contact numbers and e-mail address should be immediately notified to the CIELE - Frequent visits to the CIELE website - Keeping the passport in custody of the CIELE is recommended - NEVER doing the part-time work without the pre-permission from the Korean Immigration Office- The temporary visit abroad during semester should be notified before departure

28 International Exchange Center, Kunsan NU28/31 3.2Notices for Foreign Students (2) - Passport, AR card, bank book should be received not by your friend but by you - In case of payment of fine owing to the violation of immigration laws and regulations, you must leave Korea by the immigration laws - Please keep your eye on the visa and re-entry period
