YOU ARE LOOKING AT Mr. McGregor TEACHER TODAY’S TOPIC IS SYRIAN REFUGEE CRISIS CURRENTLY WE ARE CURRENTLY HERE 1a of 7 Syrian Refugees: Questions to Consider What are refugees? How do they differ from migrants? Do you agree with the 1951 Refugee Commission, that it is our responsibility to provide shelter or asylum to refugees? Why or Why not? Some people argue that these are not refugees but “economic migrants” who are seeking a better life because of the war torn infrastructure of their homeland, but are not in any immediate danger. They feel that they have no refugee rights because they are willingly leaving their homeland. Thoughts? As a citizen of the United States, do you feel this is an issue that you should be concerned with? As a citizen of the world? Despite many of these refugees fleeing to Europe should the United States willingly take in Syrian Refugees? Yes or no? What is the solution to this problem? Can we, as the developed world, accommodate the refugees? Is a solution possible? Can you identify any bias in the video/pictures provided?
