4 Role & Responsibility of the Contractor Standard Specification Sub-clause 504: “ The Contractor shall submit to the Engineer for his approval, the Quality Assurance Plan (QAP)which shall be based on the detailed Program of the Works as per SS Sub-clause 116” Once Division Chief approves the QAP, it is the responsibility of the Contractor to maintain/control quality of the Works as per the approved QAP.

8 Continue Establish: 1) Trials process including lab trials, site trials, and trial section 2)Details of materials mainly factory made and supplied matching with Material Plan including (a) material storage facility, (b) delivery invoice at site, (c) manufacture’s quality certificate and (d) Verification test at production yard. 3) Appropriate equipments to be used in lab, their calibration frequency, Standard & Codes to be followed and testing process to be adopted, Testing Format to be adopted. 4) List of staff and qualification 5) Organization Chart of the Lab strength 6) Delegation of Authority to verify and certify test results

9 Role & Responsibility of the Sub. Er. ‘Key Actor’ at base level for checking compliances to Specification Recording any area of non-compliance (workmanship, materials quality, and constriction process quality) with Specification requirement and notify the Er. Coordinate with Er. to arrange Materials Testing through Material Engineer/Er. When work schedule requires

10 Role & Responsibility of the Er. If Er. at Divisional Office is working as Material Engineer, he /she shall have following role and responsibility: Materials Approval – Natural Materials – Manmade materials Testing – Prepare a list of tests together with test frequencies to be undertaken for all phases of the Works – Monitor field and lab. Testing including trials testing

11 Role & Responsibility of the Er. continue Undertake independent materials testing when considered necessary Supervise Contractor’s lab (or DoR’s own) activities for Specification conformance such as equipment calibration etc. Check QAP submitted by the Contractor as per Standard Specification of the Condition of Contract and submit to Division Chief for approval Supervise Contractor’s field activities for material source and implementation technique to achieve top quality work Forward non-conforming work report to Division Chief.

12 Role & Responsibility of the Divisional Chief When any non-conforming work is undertaken by the Contractor, issue and sign notice of non-conformance to record the defects When non-conformance work is correctly completed, sign off the non-conformance reports and could request RD for verification at site Keep the record of non-conformance to make known to RD

13 Role and Responsibility of the RD Review notice of non-conformance reports Give guidance to Divisional Chief with regards to sign-off after correction of defects by the Contractors Field visit to check correction made before sign-off by Divisional Chief. Keep record of such Contractors
