3 Renaissance  Renaissance= Rebirth in the interest of learning and art  Started in northern Italy in the late 1300s

4 Humanism  People no longer wanted to focus on life after death (Middle Ages)  Emphasis on how people could improve the world now  Reason combined with faith is the best path to knowledge Humanism Video Clip

5 Technology Increases  The Printing Press 1450 (Germany) Spread the ideas of the Renaissance Increased literacy throughout Europe No longer had to hand copy books- Many more opportunities to read

6 Art  Leonardo da Vinci (Renaissance Man) Painting Studied human body Built machines and studied human flight

7 Michelangelo  Painter  Sculptor  Poet  Architect

8 Math and Science  Through art and philosophy math and science made important advancements during the Renaissance Art and Learning
