1 Freshman to Ph.D. Summer Math Workshop Melanie Wells Workshop Facilitator & Math Educator

2 1)Find a way to attack the problem (look for hidden skills/clues) 2)Stay focused on what you are trying to do 3)1 minute per problem 4)Eliminate at least 2 choices 5)Don’t worry too much about multiple select items, but REMEMBER they wouldn’t have made it “multiple select” if they didn’t want to you select more than 1 answer. 6)Mark and “flag”, but don’t leave any questions blank  **If a break is offered, take it! Helpful Hints

3 1)Don’t stress about the test while taking the stress. Focus on the test. 2)Did you answer the question? (It’s not always as easy as it looks) 3)If you look at a problem & have no clue how to work it, don’t be scared to guess & move on. There are many, many more problems that you DO know how to work. Focus on them. 4)Lastly, remember the purpose of this training is for you to learn. It’s okay if you miss a problem now, just don’t miss it on the real test. Always figure out what you did wrong. Helpful Hints
