What Your Mind Map Needs to Do Make the invisible visible—your thoughts AS YOU READ. DEVELOP ideas—questions, insights, conclusions, connections, predictions, connections to your thoughts and feelings and life even Include abundant SPECIFIC DETAILS FROM TEXT. Keep in in note form—phrases preferred over full sentences, paragraphs. Organize—position, size of components, bubbles, differentiate with color, print style, etc.

WHAT YOUR MIND MAP DOES NOT NEED Pictures or illustrations Lots of complete Sentences—phrases will do; some complete sentences are fine, especially as you summarize overall thoughts. Paragraphs of analyis. A clever unifying theme that you compose and force on the map AFTER READING.
