Goetz22 June 2016 UMN Activity UMN contract with SwRI is producing good results - at a price –Nearly complete Flight hardware assembly is well along –Complete LNPS1 delivered to I&T at UCB – final conformal and such remain LNPS2 delivered to I&T at UMN – final conformal and such remain TDS in final testing – delivery to UCB I&T in July 2

Goetz22 June 2016 FIELDS2 Activity On-going development of FPGA/VHDL firmware –Troubled flight-like proto-RTAX was burned and tested – end of 2015 –Testing showed a serious timing problem in VHDL design –Testing also showed a data acquisition problem –Solutions are complete and fully functional in ProASIC Testing runs 24x7 –Will require another proto-RTAX burn in the very near term On-going development of flight software On-going development of ground software 3

Goetz22 June 2016 TDS Activity TDS FM is now fully assembled and tested –Screened ADCs were delivered and installed At risk – lot jeopardy – as qualification continues to mid-September –Instrument tuning is now largely complete Select values installed for timing, gain and offset Issues –Circuit Breaker design error (typo) – introduced in FM Corrected, implemented and tested –Circuit Breaker mixed voltage – introduced in STEREO Designed – implementation/testing next week –V5 Gain error – overlooked in EM testing Corrected, implemented and tested –Non-flight (no PIND testing) AD829 op-amps installed by accident Corrected (replaced) and tested 4

Goetz22 June 2016 TDS Status TDS FM is assembled and in testing and calibration TDS EM1 is in normal use at UCB EM stack –Timing compatibility with DFB and MAG instruments demonstrated TDS EM2 is available for use at UMN –Continuing development of flight firmware, software and ground software FPGA/VHDL has seen continuous development –Working timing and data issues exposed with proto-RTAX 5

Goetz22 June 2016 LNPS Activity LNPS1/2 FMs are complete and ready for I&T –Final flight qualified LNPS1 MSK parts installed (red circles) –Instrumented TV conducted on both FM units Verified heat rejection and hot spots –Delivered to I&T LNPS1/2 FMs have a possible tin-whisker issue –Magnetic parts have been built with tin-plated cans –Mitigations are understood Large scale size Tag plate pins fully solder coated Conformal will be applied effectively to can interiors, exteriors and boards –No bare metal - Impedes growth and penetration Voltages/currents will burn whiskers away –In the hands of the PMPCB LNPS1/2 EMs are complete –Functional at UMN (1) and UCB (2) 7

Goetz22 June 2016 Parts Activity Parts and materials lists are complete As-built parts lists complete –Evolving as select parts change One part not yet fully approved –AD7621 ADC beam testing accomplished at Texas A&M Test write-up complete –Commercial PEM qualification is on-going – to mid-September Magnetics tin-whisker issue to be resolved 12
