Graphing How to make a graph using Excel

Step 1 Go to Mr Cook’s Web site and go to LINKS and find the section marked Excel Data Set A or B. If your last name starts with (A-M) you will click set A everyone else clicks set B.

Step 1A Next click on the type of data you need (Excel or Other spreadsheet)

Step 2 Once you are in the Excel the data set you must cut and paste the data you need. Your graph must show the age of students compared to their height. (Note: You must paste the data onto a new sheet.)

Step 3 You must click on the graphing icon and choose the type of graph you need to make. Look at your data closely and choose from the types of graphs we have talked about in class.

Step 5 You must now click the next button and pick the data you need by clicking and dragging the mouse over the data you have chosen. You must also choose whether to display the information by columns or rows.

Step 6 You must push the next button and decide what to name your graph, and what to label your axis

Step 7 You must now push next again and put the graph on the data sheet by clicking the lower bubble.

Step 8 You must then hit the finish button and arrange the graph to fit the screen as best you can. If you did a scatter plot then left click on the data points and right click and hold the mouse to put a trendline on your graph. Answer the 2 assignment questions below the graph.

Step 9 You will want to put a linear line on your graph

Step 10 Save your graph in a file with your name and class name in the title

Step 11 Email Mr. Cook your graph by going to your email to Mr. Cook’s web site and attaching the file.
