Pagination Using MS Word for Windows to Insert Page Numbers

Step One n Make two separate MS Word files n One file for the Title Page and Outline n One file for the Essay and Works Cited Page n Open the Essay/Works Cited file first

Step Two n Click on the INSERT drop-down menu n Choose PAGE NUMBER n Select TOP of page n Select RIGHT of page n Click OK and close the dialogue box

Step Three n Choose VIEW drop-down menu n Select HEADERS AND FOOTERS n Move the cursor to the right in the dialogue box by clicking on the RIGHT JUSTIFY key in the tool bar at the top of the screen n Type your LAST NAME n Click OK to close the dialogue box

Step Four n Open the Title Page/Outline file next n Click on the INSERT drop-down menu n Choose to insert PAGE NUMBERS n Change to TOP RIGHT placement n Select OPTIONS n Change to LOWER CASE ROMAN NUMERAL (i., ii., iii.) n Click OK to close 2nd box and then OK again to close 1st box

Step Five n Open VIEW drop-down menu n Choose HEADERS AND FOOTERS n Change justification to RIGHT hand side of page next to page numbers n Type your LAST NAME n Close dialogue box
