Volcano Types and Types of Lava Lava Types Silica: SiO2 – Silica is the main component of glass – Amount of it in lava determines if lava is low or high in viscosity (runny or thick and gooey) Low Silica Lava – Runny, flows freely High Silica Lava – Gooey, Oozes High Silica Lava
