3 Who told YOU about Jesus? First time hearing? In process? Who have you told your story to?

4 We serve a Missionary God 1 Timothy 2:1-4 “…God our Savior, 4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” John 3:16-17 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only [begotten] Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

5 He asks us to be His Witnesses to the world

6 Jesus Demonstrated How Jesus actively engaged his culture -Participated in its rituals -Focused His work on its cities -Interacted with its leaders -Welcomed its crowds (Matt 14:13-14) -Reached out to its poor (financially poor and poor in spirit) -Touched those on the fringes – those with NO hope

7 Jesus was the Ultimate Witness of God “…Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood…” (Revelation 1:5)

8 How to…. How did Jesus interact with people? Whom did He meet? How did He connect with them? Where did the encounters take place? Who initiated contact? What happened in the conversations?

9 Sometimes Jesus Initiated -Samaritan Woman (John 4:7-42) -Crippled beggar (John 5:1-15)

10 Sometimes Others Initiated He was available and approachable. -Rich young ruler (Matt 19:16-30) -A demoniac (Mark 5:1-20) -Jairus, a synagogue ruler (Mark 5:21-43) -A hemorrhaging woman (Mark 5:24-34)

11 Sometimes 3 rd Parties Initiated He was open. -tax collectors & other sinners invited to a party by Matthew (Matt 9:9-13) -Herod, introduced by Pilate (Luke 23:6-16) -Nathaniel, invited by Philip (John 1:45-51) -an adulterous woman brought by the scribes (John 8:1-11) -the friends who opened up the roof to get their friend in front of Jesus (Mark 2:4)

12 So What do we learn from Jesus? initiated conversations & responded to initiatives of others interacted where the people were – work, homes, anywhere He spoke in a way they would understand – stories/parables Asked questions (more than 50% of the time) Connected with peoples thoughts and feelings

13 Asks us to do the same… Acts 1:8 But you will receive power (Greek = Dynamis [dynamite]) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

14 HOW CAN WE LIVE A LIFE… as a witness to Cabot, Beebe, Austin, Ward, Jacksonville, Sherwood, Vilonia, Conway, Lonoke, Arkansas, Dominican Republic, ends of the earth?
