Examples of Cross Curricular Literacy in Year 1 Writing Reading T1- Science-writing and finding information relating to the body and senses T2-Science-non- fiction writing relating to habitats and seasons T3-Geography- using geographical language. Place names using capital letters History- explorer- Amundsen/Scott T4-Maths and PE- positional language T5- Geography- place names and locations PSHE- feelings and solution to problems T6-Science-sea movement and tides Geography- recognising features of different continents History- Grace Darling Speaking and Listening : Sharing poems and songs related top stories and topics Listening to other stories using similar characters Making puppets and using drama to re-enact non- fiction events e.g. explorations and historical events PSHE- discussing feelings related to stories- excitement/happiness/loneliness etc. Sharing information verbally about facts We encourage children to explore texts related to areas which have been introduced through their core books poetry, including that from other countries, non fiction texts - scientific and historic exploration stories with similar characters but different outcomes stories and writing by the same author
