COVENANT In the ancient world covenants were solemn agreements between two or more people to do or refrain from doing something A covenant is a binding promise between God and humankind in which God pledges enduring love and asks for faithful love in return. Three major Old Testament covenants:

THREE MAJOR OT COVENANTS 1.Covenant with Abraham -God blesses Abram and promises him a land to call his own and descendants as “numerous as the starts” (Gn 15:18) 2. Covenant with Moses -God chooses the Israelites as His people. He delivers them from the Egyptians and gives the Ten Commandments (or the Decalogue) 3. Covenant with David -God promises that the Messiah would be born of the “House of David”
