2. Program Day 01 – Origin Country/PORTUGAL (LISBOA) Arrival at Lisbon Airport. Transfer from Lisbon Airport to a Hotel in Lisbon. Dinner and accommodation at a Lisbon Hotel. Day 02 – LISBOA/VIDIGEUIRA/BEJA Breakfast at the hotel in Lisbon. Departure to Vidigueira, a calm and peaceful village in an area filled with fruit trees fields, orchards and especially famous wine production. In Vidigueira we will visit the Herdade do Sobroso – this manor combines wine production with the enjoyment of space and nature, using its 1600 hectares as a leisure centre. Here we will make a wine tour, including wine tasting and lunch of traditional gastronomy. After lunch we will proceed to Beja, generally with warm and dry weather, providing the perfect weather for those looking for a relaxing holiday. Rest of the day free. Dinner and accommodation at a hotel in Beja. Day 03 – BEJA/CUBA/FERREIRA DO ALENTEJO/BEJA Breakfast at the hotel in Beja. We will start today with departure to Cuba, today a modern and enterprising county. In Cuba we will visit the “Herdade do Rocim”, opened in 2007, and is already winning prizes for its wines. There is much modern art on display, a wine bar with spa-type mood-music, a shop selling books as well as wine and wine-related products, and a terrace with vineyard views. We will make a visit of the whole complex, followed by a fantastic lunch with the wines of this cellar. After lunch we will follow to Ferreira do Alentejo, to visit Herdade do Pinheiro. A guided visit will show you the vineyards, the very modern winery, barrel cellar and bottling lines. The manor also has a shop selling home-made ham, olive oil and wine. 3. DAY 4 – BEJA/VIDIGUEIRA/BEJA Breakfast at the hotel in Beja. Departure in the morning towards Vidigueira, to visit the São Cucufate Roman Ruins. Dated from the 1st century a.C., are considered to have been an agricultural centre that was developed until the 4th century, where the owner may have lived. After the decay of the Roman Empire this place still remained inhabited, probably until the end of the 18th century. After the visit we will follow to the “Herdade Grande” – a 350ha mixed farm on wide, rolling country just outside Vidigueira, where the wine project began in 1980, when they began planting 60ha of vines. A modern winery followed in 1997. Under the labels Condado das Vinhas and Herdade Grande, about 60 per cent of the total production is red, the rest white. Visit of the farm and lunch will follow the visit. Return to Beja after the lunch. Panoramic tour over the city – walking through the streets of Beja we can admire the whitewashed houses with colourful borders around their windows and visit the many museums that house relics from the region’s different settlers. Dinner and accommodation at a hotel in Beja. DAY 5 – BEJA/LISBOA Breakfast at the hotel in Beja. Departure to Albernoa to visit the “Herdade da Malhadinha Nova” – located in one of the less developed regions of Alentejo, innovation and quality are priorities on this 200 ha project that includes production of wine, raising certified animals such as black pigs and pure blood Alentejo cattle. After visiting the vineyards and tasting the wine, lunch will be served at the Herdade da Malhadinha winery’s excellent restaurant. After lunch we will proceed to Lisbon. Rest of the day free. In the morning half-day guided tour of Lisbon: starting with a panoramic of the main streets and squares of the city: Marquis de Pombal Square, Avenida da Liberdade and the Rossio square. We will continue to one of the oldest quarters of the city: Alfama (walking tour, passing to Lisbon Cathedral). Our the last stop here we’ll taste a typical Portuguese drink (Ginginha – cherry liquor). We will proceed to Belém, stopping by the Belem Tower and the Discovery Monument for photos. Still within Belém quarter we will visit the Jeronimos Monastery. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon, we will visit Sintra (visit of National Sintra Palace), Estoril and Cascais, returning to Lisbon by the coastal route. Dinner and accommodation at a hotel in Lisbon. DAY 7 – LISBOA/Origin Country Free morning. Transfer to Lisbon Airport.
