6 In Year 2 children use known number facts and place value to subtract. 37 – 12 = 25 -2 -10 25 27 37 Try: 67 - 16

7 In Year 3 children continue to work out difference for numbers that are close together. Counting on is easier! Children work out the difference by counting on using a number line. 102 – 97 Work out 104 – 95 counting on with a number line.
