4 Natural Numbers - naturally what babies start with (counting numbers) Whole Numbers - natural numbers and zero. Integers - natural numbers, zero, and negative integers. Each negative integer is the additive inverse (or opposite) of a positive integer Real Numbers

5 Rational Numbers - all numbers that can be written as quotients (division) of integers. - can be terminating decimals or repeating decimals. Irrational Numbers - cannot be written as quotients of integers - decimal representations neither terminate or repeat (like pi). - if positive rational number in not a perfect square root (such as 25) or then, its square root is irrational.
