Hub-usually used on a LAN (Local Area Network) to physically connect computers together with cables that connect to the ports on the back via Ethernet cables (CAT5). A hub is a repeater and does not filter traffic. Average cost is around $30.00 dollars. Switches are the next generation of enterprise-class, stackable, access layer switches. They provide full convergence between wired and wireless networks on a single platform. Switches provide an extra layer of protection against cybercrime. Using NetFlow analysis they can identify suspicious network traffic patterns inside the network. With file analysis they performs reputation scoring and the dynamic analysis of files traversing the network and with deep-packet inspection can identify exploits that can lead to system compromise. Switches use log analysis the can uncovers stealthy activity that may be spread across days, weeks, or months. Cost varies $25.00 – thousands depending on system requirements.

Routers offer robust security and encryption with layer 2 MAC security. They give you the option of workload mobility, high availability application clusters and layer 2 extension for legacy application support. They have application visibility and control, performance routing that enables inexpensive Internet links as a WAN transport. Newer models offer Locator/ID separation protocols for mobility, traffic load-balancing, high VPN scale and IPv6 transition. Prices range from $25.00-to thousands depending on the network. This Bridge offers 3 in 1 dual band access points, Wi-Fi bridging and is a range extender. It’s embedded antennas lessen interference and boost the signal coverage. Bridging creates aggregated networks from two or more network segments by allowing different networks to communicate independently but separately. It is performed in the first two layers of the OSI model. Price ranges $ 40.00 and up. Routers are usually used over switches and bridges today for security reasons.

Gateways are the next generation of USG series that allows integrated AP controller technology. It provides anti-malware protection and Wi-Fi centralization management. It is highly scalable and can manage up to 512 Aps, making it ideal for large capacity use. Features include: RRM (Radio Resource Management), Security and Access Control, AAA(Authentication, Authorization, Accounting), Wireless QoS, Deployment, Diagnostic Tools, High Availability, and License SKU. Prices seem to start around $150.00

Firewalls are high performing routers that deliver Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI), Virtual Private Network (VPN), Network Address Translation (NAT), AES and 3DES Encryption, Denial of Service (DoS) protection and provide full secure network access between headquarter locations, remote/branch offices and remote workers. This makes it the ideal solution to provide businesses with the essential network security needed to stop unwanted intrusions. Prices vary $110.00 and up Wireless AP adds long range, high speed wireless access for existing wired networks or networks with older wireless technology. With the latest technology, high power amplifiers and high gain antennas, this provides up to 5,000 sq ft of wireless coverage. The Smart Access Point features 4 wired ports for connecting additional wired computers, printers and other network devices. True Plug and Play set up, makes setup as simple as connecting to your router's network port.
