6 About the Office of Admissions The Office of Admissions seeks to facilitate the promise of accessible health care and the creation of a culturally safe training environment. In order to enhance the pedagogical opportunities of such an environment, we hope to increase the diversity of our incoming classes while maintaining the exceptional academic backgrounds of our students.

7 Office of Admissions These efforts are evidenced in the:  Establishment of the Non-Traditional Pathway applicant category;  Development of outreach programs targeting youth from under- represented communities, and  In 2012, the introduction of the advanced standing program for International Medical Graduates. We believe that the presence of IMG students will enrich the learning environment of our Faculty of Medicine. We welcome your applications!

8 About the IMG Program

9 About the Program for International Medical Graduates The IMG Program is an advanced standing program. Admitted IMG students are exempt from the Fundamentals of Medicine and Dentistry (FMD) of the M.D.,C.M. program; and enter the program in the Transition to Clinical Practice (TCP) component (April/May of Year-2). Successful IMG program students continue into the clerkships and graduate with a McGill M.D.,C.M. degree.

10 Are you eligible to apply? The IMG Program is open to an applicant who: Is a recognized resident of Québec; By application deadline, holds M.D. degree from outside Canada/US, in good standing from an accredited, World Health Organization-recognized institution (Avicenna Directory for Medicine);Avicenna Directory for Medicine Provides results of the MCCEE from the Medical Council of Canada;Medical Council of Canada Provides a Medical Student Performance Report or Evaluation ("Dean's Letter") from their medical school; Provides proof of English proficiency or proof of French proficiency (unless you have completed your MD in French or English); Meets all other essential requirements listed on our website.

11 Key figures and statistics Anticipated number of seats available for spring 2017: 2  The number of positions available in the IMG Program is dependent on attritions from previous years. A maximum of three (3) positions will be open per year, with an anticipated average of 1-2 per year. It is possible that no positions will be available in a given year. The following figures are from May 2016 entry and are provided as reference only:  Number of complete applications received: 20  Number of interviewed candidates: 8  Number of admitted students: 2

13 Selection Criteria  Medical degree from accredited, WHO-recognized institution outside Canada /US (Avicenna Directory for Medicine).  Applicants must be in good standing.  Applicants will be required to submit a Medical Student Performance Record (MSPR) together with the academic transcript.  Medical Council of Canada Evaluating Examination (MCCEE) Medical Council of Canada  Competitive applicants will have MCCEE 1 scores that are at least 50 points higher than the passing grade.  USMLE or ECSMG results will not be accepted  Language proficiency:  TOEFL scores should be minimum: 250 (computer), 577 (paper) or 90 (internet)  IELTS: a band score of 6.5 or better  Office de la langue française examinations also considered.  https://www.mcgill.ca/medadmissions/applying/requirements/language

16 Key Dates for IMG Applications Application deadline: November 1, 2016 Supporting documentation deadline: November 1, 2016 Anticipated date invitations to interview: February 3, 2017 Interview dates: March 20-23, 2017 Start of program: April-May 2017 (precise start date to be determined)

17 How to apply Step 1: Complete an on-line application and make sure to share MCCEE scores with McGill through physiciansapply.ca Step 2: Upload transcripts All post secondary transcripts Step 3: Upload supporting documents CVPN MSPR Proof of language proficiency Proof of citizenship and/or residency Step 4: submit any remaining documents

18 Selection process We verify your eligibility (application & requirements complete?) MCCEE scores are verifies internally through the physiciansapply.ca web portal Complete applications reviewed first on the basis of MCCEE scores and academics (including MSPR) Competitive applications will then be fully reviewed (CV and Personal Narrative) Shortlisted candidates invited to mandatory multiple- mini-interview (March 20-23, 2017)

19 Applying to both the four-year & two year programs Individuals holding a medical degree from outside Canada may also apply concurrently for admission to the 4-year MDCM program (without advanced standing), but they will have to pay two separate application fees. Applicants to either program are not required to submit an academic history workbook. Applicants to the four-year program can submit an MCCEE or MCAT score in support of their application.

22 Multiple Mini-Interviews  Designed to test your reasoning abilities and reactions linked to the medical Physicianship curriculum  “Show me what you can do” rather than “Tell me about yourself”  Interviews of varying formats. For example:  Interaction with actors in a staged scenario,  Discussion with evaluator on particular topics,  Completion of a task.  Interviews are short (7 minutes) and part of a circuit of 10 stations  The circuit changes every day * Interview dates: March 20-23, 2017 Rehearsal does not help. Just be yourself!

24 Postgraduate Medical Education McGill Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) welcomes applications from medical doctors who wish to apply for an accredited residency program or for a post-residency fellowship.
