Guidelines for polite online interaction; words “Internet” and “etiquette” Don’t type in all capital letters; this is interpreted as SHOUTING Do use correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar; common abbreviations are acceptable Don’t forward chain letters or other hoaxes

Don’t write anything about yourself or another person that you don’t want shared with the world Don’t send angry messages; that is called flaming Do keep your messages short; remember the acronym KISS (Keep It Short and Simple)

E-mail: electronic mail To: text box: where you type the e-mail address of the person you want to send a message to Address book: file on your computer that holds names and e-mail addresses CC: text box: an e-mail address is typed in this box to send a copy of the message; the receiver knows it has been sent to the other person
