What traits to you possess that will benefit the executive board? I am a strong leader I deal with conflict rationally I am decisive I am resourceful and a good problem solver I follow through with my commitments to the best of my ability I enjoy working with a team and holding up my part of the work I greatly enjoy interacting with people I have watched every season of Grey’s Anatomy and HOUSE M.D. so I am basically already a doctor
4
Why do you want to be on the executive board? I would like to be on the executive board because I think that my diligence and work ethic could greatly benefit this organization. I have enjoyed every event I have attended that was hosted by the pre-med club and I would love to be able to do my part in helping to organize these events and share my ideas to make them even better. I have high hopes of getting into medical school and I believe that being an executive board member of one of the biggest pre-med AMSA groups in the nation will greatly increase my chances of being selected and will serve as a fantastic resume builder.
5
How have you contributed to AMSA? In the short year that I have been a part of UMN pre-med AMSA, I have tried to make as many volunteering events as possible that fit with my current class schedule and my job Attended the pre-med dinner and was one of the people that helped Olivia send out emails to all of the doctors that could potentially attend and came early to help set up Attended the suture clinic (one of my favorite events of the whole year) Attended almost every single weekly meeting (every single one that I could)
6
What would be your first choice of position to run for? Why? I would like to run for the position of Event Coordinator. During the meeting where we walked around and talked to many of the current AMSA Executive Board members, the position of Event Coordinator really stood out to me. Based on what Olivia has explained, I think that this job will fit my schedule best (between classes, volunteering, and my job at HCMC). I also very much enjoy organizing and planning events and having everything set up ahead of time. I absolutely loved the pre-med dinner; I think Olivia did a fantastic job of arranging the one that I was able to attend (second semester) and I think I could do a good job of upholding the high standard that she set. The suture clinic was also one of the highlights of my year. Being in charge of coordinating events that I thoroughly enjoy attending sounds like a job that I would be very good at and something I have a lot of experience in.
7
If you’re interested in running for a second position, what would your second choice position be? Why? While the main position I would love to fill is the Event Coordinator, a second position that grabbed my interest was the position of Secretary. Like I stated before, I love keeping things organized and doing my part to help out in the functioning of the group as a whole. I was only able to talk to Nupur briefly during the “meet and greet” during the weekly meeting, but from what I understand, the role of Secretary would coordinate nicely with my workload and other obligations.

Experiences I believe would be beneficial in my position as an Executive Board member: Internship at the Parliament of Turkey in Ankara, Turkey (2014) My job here was to organize the day of the parliamentarian I was working for (Mesut Dedeoglu) and set up his conferences and one on one meetings. At one point I wrote a speech for him with ideas healthcare reform for rural parts of Turkey Literacy program in Taskesti, Turkey (2013, 2014) My job here was to set up the curriculum and get permissions form school districts to hold an English literacy course over the summer in a rural village in Turkey. This was available to all children, but targeted at children that would otherwise have little access to adequate teaching of the English language - a skill that is becoming more and more valuable throughout the world. I believe that these experiences will be valuable to me because they gave me a lot of experience in organizing around a hectic schedule ahead of time to accommodate as many people as possible. I also learned very valuable leadership skills- especially when I conducted the literacy program. Being completely in charge of an organization gave me insight as to what is crucial for a program to run effectively.
9
In a few sentences, what are your strengths and weaknesses? My strengths include being very diligent and always completing work required of me in a timely manner (it gets done when it needs to get done). I also believe that I am a good problem solver. If there is a task assigned to me but it simply is not going the way it was planned out, I am confident in my ability to work around the problem or find a new method of accomplishing the task at hand. Another strength I have is my positive attitude; if something is not working out, I will not lose hope, but focus on the positive aspects of every experience. My weaknesses include procrastination. I generally struggle to get started on a project, but once I begin it, I give it my all and strive to do my absolute best. Another weakness I hate to admit I have is that I am slightly impatient, however I do my best to be reasonable and wait the situation out, if that is the best choice.
10
What is your vision for the future of the organization? No matter how crazy…we want to hear it! I would love to recruit many more members and hold more organization-wide events (like the pre-med dinner). I believe it is a great way to meet people including friends, colleagues, and potential employers. I myself met the doctor I am currently doing research for at the pre-med dinner in February. I would love to have these events be such an integral part of the medical and pre med community on campus that doctors ask to participate in events rather than having to be asked. I simply want our division of AMSA to be the most successful in the nation (we definitely have the size and potential) and have the highest medical school placement rate. This could be done by holding MCAT review sessions or tutoring sessions held by medical school students or physicians or other preparatory courses.

Thank you for your consideration! I am greatly looking forward to (hopefully) joining you on the Executive Board next year!
