Australia Day In Australia we have Australia Day as a national holiday on the 26 th January. In 1935 Australia used that name to mark the date. We started to celebrate Australia Day as a public holiday every year from 1994 on the 26 th of January.

Australia Day They started to take notice of the 26 th of January in the early 19 th century. They started to take notice of that date because Captain Arthur Phillip landed at Port Jackson in Sydney. While he was there he clamed Australia for the British Empire. Australians have celebrated Australia day, and in doing that showing what it means to be Australian.…………………… CONTINUED NEXT PAGE.

CONTINUED Australia Day was made from a small holiday in New South Wales into a big national celebration. Though the Aborigines don’t like this holiday, it remains the most popular celebration of a national day in Australia. The Aborigines don’t like this holiday because we are celebrating the day that their land was taken away from them.

Australian Flag The Australian Flag was made after the federation of Australian States into the Commonwealth of Australian on the 1 st of January, 1901.

Australia has six main states and two territory’s Tasmania, Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, also known as WA, New South Wales, Canberra and Victoria.
