Top 3 Agencies for Grants in Nassau County, Florida “The top agencies tend to be the state discretionary grants that you are not required to do. They may have tight parameters of what you may and may not do with the money and what the purposes are. “ (J. If a donor gives $10.000, the state can match it for 10,000 more making it 20,000. Last year, Mrs. Menz and another member wrote a grant for incorporating technology devices and science inquiry and the state matched the amount making it 20.000. You could have asked for up to $16,000. The challenges were the ordering and getting it set up and going back and viewing the implementations and training the teachers. 1.The easiest part of writing a grant is determining the need or purpose for the grant. For educators, it is easy for us to see a need or come up with a request when asked what is needed in the classroom or school. 2. Goals and Objectives could also be considered at this time. Identify what will be the easiest part of writing the grant
15
What will be the most challenging part of the grant proposal writing? Time Evaluation and Data Collection People or Personnel to Implement what is provided with the grant
16
What will be the most challenging part of the grant proposal writing? Time : “The first major challenges is the timeline from release to when they are requesting the application to be do and providing all information required. For example, if the turn around time is 45 days from the release of the grant” (J. Menz, personal communication, June 24, 2014). How much can we actually do all at the same time when we get to the classroom level?
17
What will be the most challenging part of the grant proposal writing? Evaluation and Data Collection: Another great challenge is collecting the data and who is going to collect and interpret the data and how they are going to be evaluated. For example, test scores may not show what you are really looking for, but student writing or students’ projects being videoed or pictures being taken. Small districts, such as Nassau do not have Research and Evaluation Department. The data for the outcomes of the grant wants an immediate indicator of success.

Very few grants allow you to provide the money to fund a position to make it happen, which means that you have the responsibility to pay for another person from your current funds or put the responsibility on someone else.
