In the Last Days 2 Tim. 3:1-5
2
3 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be (1) lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, (2) lovers of pleasures more than (3) lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
3
NKJV 1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
4
NIV 3 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people
5
The way the expression: “last days” is used in the Bible Isaiah 2:2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.
6
In prophecy: Micah 4:1 But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it
7
Acts 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
8
In Jesus Christ Hebrews 1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
9
With reference to this present days in which we now live. 2 Tim.3:1-5
10
James 5:3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.
11
2 Peter 3:1-11 Scoffers will come… This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: 2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: 3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. 5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
12
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
13
What do they say, and why? 1. Where is the promise of his coming? 2. Since the early fathers have died, All things remain the same. Why? 1. They walk after their own lusts 2. They are walking after the dictates of their own hearts. ( Jerm. 10:23)
14
What does Peter call these people? 1. Ignorant—(Hosea 4:6) Notice, they are ignorant willingly! 2. Remember the flood? What happened to all the people Outside of the ark? (They all perished..!) 3. The same “Word of God” that caused the flood, will also Cause another Huge Event: The Great Fire! It shall burn Up the earth, the heavens (sky, etc) and ungodly mankind!
15
Then Peter answers the first question of those who scoff: 1. Do not be ignorant of this fact: One day with God is as a 1,000 Years, and a 1,000 years as one day! God’s Calendar! 2. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise: He has said That it will happen…and in His time…IT WILL!!! 3. Why has it not happened: 2 Pet. 3:9 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
16
It Will Happen…and it will come ‘as a thief in the night’… 2 Peter 3: 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

In the Last Days

Men shall be lovers of Self (Matt. 16:24) Men shall be lovers of Money (Matt.19:16-22) Men shall not be lovers of Good. (Gal.5:22-23) Men shall be lovers of Pleasure (Rom. 12:1-2) Few Men shall be lovers of God ( Matt. 7:13-14)
19
Lovers of Self Selfishness will be reigning Luke 12:13-21
20
Lovers of Money Matt. 6:19-21 Ananias and Sapphira Acts 5:1-11
21
Not Lovers of Good Gal. 5:22-23 Fruit of the Spirit
22
Lovers of Pleasure Pleasures will be reigning King Herod Matt.14:3-12
23
Few will be Lovers of God Some will truly love God…and serve God faithfully Timothy: Paul said of him: I have no man like him… Phil. 2:19-23
24
These are the “last days”…
25
1.In Politics….who can you believe? 2.In Society…Cursing, taking the name of God in vain 3.In Families..Divisions, hurting each other, seeking material things 4.In working…Many will not work who can….2 Thess. 3:10 (Eph.4:28,29) 5.In churches..No regard for what God has designed: No regard for God wants…No regard to Divine guidance…by God’s Word. 6. In personal lives..Killings, murders,
26
Where do we fit into all of this? We have the Word of God to guide us…but many refuse to be guided By truth. John 8:32 We have the promises that God has made to us…but so few believe Them. 2 Pet. 1:3-4 We have the judgment of God before us…but we set that aside for Something that will come later. 2 Cor. 5:10
27
Where Is His Coming? When Will He be Coming? Who will be ready? “How do we know? 2 Tim. 3:1-5 “In the last days”
28
We know He is coming again…but we don’t know when. We know time is limited to all of us. Psalms 90:10 3 score l0 or 4 score, and we fly away!. Where will you fly? We are all going to leave the earth…where will we go? Who will be with you in the flight? For the Christian, Psalms 23:3 Matt. 28:18-20.
29
In the “last days”…God has declared: God is not willing That any Should perish, but That all should come To repentance!. 2 Pet. 3:9
30
What will happen to you if:
31
1. You have never heard the word? No faith Rom. 10:17 2. You have heard the word, but do not believe it. John 8:24 3. You are told to repent, but you never have. Acts 2:38 4. You are told to confess Jesus as Lord, the Christ, the Messiah, the Son of God. You have never confessed Him. Matt.10:32,33 5. You have been told to be baptized, given examples of many who have been baptized, but you have rejected being baptized. You have Put off doing what you can do…and you die in that condition. Mark16:15-16 … No faith, No belief, No repentance, No Confession No Baptism… No Lord, Not in the church, Outside with all the Condemed … My friend, where will you be in eternity?
32
Erring Christian
33
1. Saved but fall from grace. Gal.5:4 2. Started out right…but then turn away. 2 Pet. 2:20-22 3. You have No Hope, and you are in a worse condition As you stand before God in the Judgment than you were Before you ever became a Christian! No wonder God says it will be worse off for you in the Judgment Of the Lord, than those who have never obeyed the gospel! You put the blood of the covenant as a unholy thing, you are like a pig washed going back to wallowing in the mire You are like a dog, turning to eat his own vomit again” In God’s sight, you have only one judgement: An Eternity separated from God, From His people and from Jesus Christ the Son of God.
34
But you will perish if you Don’t listen to God: These are the last days….no other plan, no other Christ, no Other time….It is now or never!. If you die today, what is the verdict that you will have Before God?
35
In the “last days”…God has declared: God is not willing That any Should perish, but That all should come To repentance!. 2 Pet. 3:9
