EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY Event photography is usually to do with festivals, weddings, Christmas parties etc. In this field of photography various subjects are covered during the work. In this field of photography you can either work for a company or become self employed. An example of an event photographer is Paul Clarke. Paul Clarke has been working photography since 1991 as an editor and re-toucher working from the London Evening Standard to the Economist. Paul then developed an eye for making his own images and not working on other people’s photographs. As a photographer his work has been shown internationally His clients include event managers, PR companies, celebrities, Charities and the third sectors. In October 2013 Paul was listed as one of the “Top 100 photography heroes” and three years later he won the Private Events Category and was a runner up for Event Photographer of the Year. Paul Clarke is self employed.

ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY Astrophotography is the use of photography in astronomy and is usually a challenging field of photography to enter since photographing celestial objects is very different to photographing landscapes. An example of this is the astrophotographer Justin NG Justin NG started off as a self taught photographer in 2010. He started out professionally as a wedding photographer. He moved on in 2012 to sporting photography for instance he was the official photographer for the Singapore Karting Championship however his astrophotography came around in the year of 2013 when some of his photographs ended up in National Geographic.

TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY Travel photography is used to tell a story of ones travels around the world. It is used to show parts of the world many people may not get to visit. A well known photographer in this field includes Marsel van Oosten, a Dutch photographer who won Travel Photographer of the Year in 2015. He started his photography career taking photographs as a hobby until a trip to Tanzania and being so close to the animals helped Marsel figure out his passion for photography and specifically wildlife photography. His work is often praised for it’s composition

DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY Documentary photography is often associated with history and professional photojournalism this may also be involved with artistic or academic pursuits. This type of photography is also used to chase stories or a single story. An example od a documentary photographer is Ed Thompson Ed Thompson is a British photographer, lecturer and artist and his work as focused on various projects over the years such as ‘Syrian Refugees’, ‘Families living with Nuclear Energy’. He started out as an apprentice to Russian photographer Sergey Chilikov. They met at the Arles Photography Festival in 2002. From that he developed a distinctive style. He proceeded to publish his photo-essays to various magazines around the world. He is a self employed photographer
