Signs and Symptoms of Syphilis Stage 1:Symptoms of Syphilis include sores, but may not be recognized. Stage 2: Skin rashes and mucous membrane lesions are symptoms of syphilis. Stage 3: Stage 1 and 2 symptoms disappear but the infection is still in the body. Syphilis may damage the internal organs, including the brain, nerves, eyes, heart, blood vessels, live, etc.
5
Body Systems Affected Immune System- Syphilis kills T cells, and the body is unable to send fighter T cells because T cells send a message to the brain to send fighter T cells. Circulatory System- Syphilis affects blood vessels and the heart, which causes blood flow to be irregular. Nervous System- Syphilis affects the brain and eyes and ears.

Treatment For Syphilis Syphilis can be cured in it’s early stages. One intramuscular injection of penicillin (antibiotic) will cure a person who has had syphilis for less than a year. Luckily, Phil Head is only in the 2 nd stage so a single injection of the antibiotic will cure him from Syphilis. Side effects for Penicillin are Intense Diarrhea, headaches, sore mouth or tongue, and white patches in the mouth or on the tongue. Vancomycin is an alternative to penicillin because many people are allergic to penicillin.
