3  Use highlighter or underline with a pen to mark areas of importance or reading behaviors you catch yourself doing.  Turn to Chapter 26 on page 331 ◦ Read page 331 & the top paragraph on 332 ◦ Stop yourself every time you stop comprehending and follow the flow chart. ◦ Return to your notebook and explain what you learned about the Sacco and Vanzetti trial.

4  Using Chapter 26, fill in what you learned about the 7 words you wrote in your notebook on your BEFORE/TERM/AFTER chart.  Answer the question you wrote on the LEFT side of your notebook the best you can. ◦ Review of terms and the Essential Question  Sacco & Vanzetti video clip Sacco & Vanzetti ◦ Hearing to determine whether Sacco and Vanzetti should be granted clemency ◦ Role Cards: Prepare for the answers on the cards  Lowell Committee in front of room ◦ Each group sends one to testify  CD track 11, then Lowell Committee votes

5  Historical Verdict  Debrief ◦ Which postwar tensions were reflected in the Sacco and Vanzetti trial & clemency hearing? ◦ Do you think Sacco & Vanzetti got a fair trial? ◦ In reality, how important were the facts that you thought would most influence the clemency hearing? ◦ Do you believe that America’s founding ideals, such as equality, rights, and opportunity, were advanced or restricted during the postwar period?

9  Get out homework from last night ◦ Anyone want to share?  On ___page of your notebook, on the LEFT write the following question: “What social trends and innovations shaped popular culture during the 1920’s?”  Skim Chapter 28: pp. 353-367 ◦ Answer question

10  Anyone know how to do the Charleston?Charleston ◦ Charleston lesson Charleston lesson  On the RIGHT side of page ___ in your notebook, number 1-16, with leaving space in between for the following: ◦ Name of a person ◦ Fun Facts ◦ Accomplishments ◦ How trend shaped popular culture in the 1920’s  Everyone will get a name of a person to study. Tomorrow we will have a “Twenties Party,” acting as these people.

11  Roaring Twenties Party ◦ Have your notebook open to your 1-16 chart, as you will be making note of the people you meet at the party. ◦ At the end of the party, you will be dancing the Charleston. Be ready!
