What is Yoga Hotelini Friends Concern in its efforts to promote tourism in Kenya, developed this program as one of the ways of strategically position Kenya as Africa’s preferred wellness destination. Yoga Hotelini is designed to introduce yoga practice in hotel rooms, corporate offices, hospitals and airports among other places. Yoga is an ancient form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing. The main components of yoga are postures (a series of movements designed to increase strength and flexibility) and breathing.

4. Why Yoga Hotelini Everyone needs to find healthy ways to relax, release and regenerate, and hotels need to offer unique yoga experiences to help hurried travelers and staff achieve serenity. Majority of guests have their days preoccupied with activities and once they get back to their hotels they find it difficult or lazy to go to the health clubs for exercises. With lack of exercise these guests end up getting more fatigued at the end of their travel; with some guests cutting short their travel due to fatigue Yoga Hotelini program in partnership with different hotels introduces yoga exercises in hotel rooms as a value add to its guests. This program introduces quality customized and locally manufactured hand made yoga mats and yoga video tutorials streamed on the TVs in the hotel rooms.

5. Why Yoga Hotelini When on the road, travelers lack the ability to maintain the same fitness regimen they have at home. They struggle with working out in unfamiliar neighborhoods and finding time to get in a quick workout Even though group exercise programs and upgraded fitness centers help guests reach their fitness goals, some guests have expressed the desire to have the flexibility to work out in their room. A number of guests also shy off from exercising among other people especially strangers. Often, these guests want a quick workout between meetings or before bed. With Yoga Hotelini hotels are able to fix the need of flexible workout.

In the videos we will also advertise other wellness facilities and wellness sensitive menus that the hotel offers to the guests. During the yoga lessons the guests will tend to become more wellness conscious and so the hotels should take the opportunity to sell healthy drinks and food to increase sales revenue.

10. Yoga Hotelini Empowering Youth and Women Through Yoga Hotelini, hotels are extending their CRS arm. The program will create over 500 new jobs to a number of youth and women from poor communities. Friends Concern is partnering with a local organization called Yoga Dance Nairobi in training a number of yoga teachers who will execute training functions for the Yoga Hotelini program. The certified teachers will conduct yoga classes for the different hotels who sign up for Yoga Hotelini. Yoga Dance Nairobi is well established and has certified professional yoga trainers with vast experience.

Yoga Hotelini Empowering Youth and Women Yoga Hotelini in partnership with Association For The Physically Disabled of Kenya (APDK) is working closely with disabled people from poor backgrounds by training them to locally manufacture yoga mats and yoga apparel. This partnership venture will see poor and disabled people empowered economically as it will create jobs.

Yoga Hotelini Empowering Youth and Women Yoga Hotelini has also partnered with APDK and one of Kenya’s top soul music artist Antony Mwangi (Anto NeoSoul) to produce meditation music with an African touch. Yoga Hotelini continuously identifies young talented artists who are physically disabled and trains them to produce internationally accepted meditation music.

13. Yoga Hotelini Promoting Kenya As a Wellness Destination Yoga Hotelini is one of a kind of a project in Africa. By 1 st launching it in Kenya, it markets Kenya a top destination that promotes wellness. With the increase in wellness tourism globally, Yoga Hotelini will position Kenya highly in the map for preferred wellness destinations. The program is supported and Endorsed by the Kenyan Government through the Ministry of Tourism and will also be marketed internationally both by the Kenya Tourism Board and Friends Concern.

14. Yoga Hotelini Badge Friends Concern through Yoga Hotelini will release a Yoga Hotelini badge that can be used by hotels that sign up to the program for marketing purposes. With partnering with booking sites such as Jumia Travel, Tripadvisor, Booking.com and HotelsCombined, Hotels with Yoga Hotelini badge can exclusively be identified through the badge in the online booking sites. Wellness conscious travellers are then able to identify wellness friendly hotels. The budge will resemble the Yoga Hotelini logo as seen below We are also partnering with insurance companies to offer incentives to organizations that encourage wellness even to their staff.

15. Yoga Hotelini Tourism for the Disabled Friends Concern runs a program called Safari Student that aims in promoting domestic tourism by building a travel culture in young people. Yoga Hotelini through Safari Student and other partners will launch a travel program that will see disabled people get sponsored to travel and see our beautiful country Kenya. Most physically disabled people face lots of challenges that prevent them from touring the country. This is CSR program which will be 100% free to the physically disabled.

Yoga Hotelini will see its profits fully directed towards supporting the other programs that Friends concern runs. Below are some of the programs. 1) The Museum of African languages (Africa’s first multilingual language museum to be set up in Mombasa) 2) Sand Art Festival (A program to empower the youth especially beach boys) 3) Dawa Wellness Center & Eco Jungle Spa (A program aimed to position Kenya and especially Mombasa as Africa’s preferred Wellness Travel destination ) 4) Safari Student – A highly educational student expedition program aimed at building a culture of travel in young people so as to promote domestic tourism
