What are Conferences? Conferences (BigBlueButton) are used for virtual lectures, virtual office hours, and student groups. Features: Broadcast real-time audio and video Demo applications on your desktop Share presentation slides Demo online resources Disclaimers: BigBlueButton can accommodate approximately 50 users in a conference at one time. Recordings are automatically deleted 14 days after the conference ends.

How do I create a conference? To Create a new conference: Click the conferences tab Click New Conference 1.Type a name for the conference 2.Select the type of conference (Don’t Change) 3.Set the time limit 4.Options: Record this conference & No Time limit 5.Type a description about the conference in the description field 6.Choose which members to invite. (Default: All Course Members is selected) 7.Click Update

How do I start a conference? You can start conferences that you have created for your course. 1.Click Conferences 2.Click Start Note: A conference will remain active on Big Blue Button as long as one person is part of the conference room. When the last person leaves, the conference will conclude and all files and chats will be removed.

The conference interface Click the Start button in the conference to tab to join a conference. When joining a conference, you will be asked “How do you want to join the audio?” Microphone Listen Only To make sure your audio is working, complete the Audio Test. Speak a few words If you hear audio, click Yes If you do not hear audio, click the question mark button Note: If you use the Chrome internet browser, you have to accept a Chrome-specific permission to use your audio. Below the address bar, click Allow.

The conference interface – Record Big Blue Button provides you with a record button. You can use this button to start/stop throughout the conference as you need. To record click the bulls eye at the top of the screen and select OK

The conference interface – View Participants The Users panel displays the user in the conference. The Presenter icon indicates that you are the presenter/moderator. 1.Users Panel 2.Change Presenter Button 3.Mute user(s) 4.Click the X to “Kick a User” 5.Lock – allows you to keep the users microphone locked 6.Settings Icon : Lower All Hands Mute All Users Mute All Users Except Presenter Lock Viewers

The conference interface – Sharing Media Tools The Media Tools Allow : 1.Upper left-hand corner, buttons to join with audio 2.Share Your Desktop 3.Share your video (webcam) 4.Record Conference 5.Mute or Unmute Yourself

The conference interface – Presentation Tools At the bottom of the viewing window, you have the following options: 1.Upload your presentation (paper icon) 2.Advance or back up your presentation by clicking the arrow keys. The number between the arrows indicates your slides 3.Increase the viewing size of your presentation 4.Make your presentation fit to the width of the viewing window 5.Make your presentation fit the entire page within the viewing window 6.Show the whiteboard by click the pencil icon. You can highlight or create shapes on the presentation slides.

The conference interface – Chat Window The Chat windows contains : 1.Welcome Message – will notify users if the conference is being recorded and provides users with interface tutorials. 2.Chat box to communicate with participants. 3.Options Tab : allow you to chat with one individual privately.

Delete a conference To Delete Conference: Click the Conference Tab Click the Gear Click Delete Confirm Delete

Edit a conference To edit a conference you have already created: Click the Conferences Tab Click the gear Click Edit (pencil) Make changes Click Save
